Carolinas WPA

Carolinas WPA was formed in 2003 to encourage communication among community colleges, colleges, and universities, public and private, in North Carolina and South Carolina. Members represent a variety of writing programs, including writing centers, writing across the curriculum programs, first-year writing programs, professional writing programs, and undergraduate writing majors/minors. Carolinas WPA enables regional writing program administrators and teachers to share concerns and issues related to writing instruction and to the administration of writing programs.

Carolinas WPA hosts two conferences each year:

  • The 16th Annual Fall Conference at Wildacres Retreat Center will take place September 11-13, 2023. (Note that the 2020, 2021, and 2022 events were cancelled due to COVID-19 and its lingering effects.) For details about the conference, including a CFP, please visit our Fall Conference page.
  • Meeting in the Middle, held at the UNC-Charlotte Dubois Center, which will take place next on Friday, February 9, 2024, with the theme “Then & Now.”

Visit the Conferences page to learn more about both conferences.

Anytime of the year, you can connect with other regional writing program administrators through the Carolinas WPA listserv. The Listserv page explains how to join.

The Carolinas WPA News, Job Ads, and CFPs page includes organization and member announcements. If you would like to post a job ad or call for proposals on this page, email your announcement to the Carolinas WPA Web Manager.

Joining the Carolinas WPA has never been easier!

You can become a voting member of the organization for a small annual fee of $20.00 for full-time tenure-track faculty or $10.00 for other faculty and graduate students. Click on the button below to pay for your membership via PayPal.
